Out on the Town

[Note: my contact for arranging visits to organ in New York didn’t come through, so I unfortunately had to forego that experience. You will see, however, that I did have a chance to see, and in one case hear, a few organs.]

This morning we walked over to find the theater was for the show we see tonight. On our way back from there we found a small Roman Catholic Church across and down the street from the theater – St. Malachy’s which is also dubbed “The Actors’ Chapel.” Here are some pictures:

We had lunch at Applebee’s, for which many friends and family teased us, but I said I was just trying to acclimate back to being in the States. After all, real life is lurking just round the corner!

After a nap and some down time back at our hotel, we left for an early dinner prior to the 7:00 p.m. show. To make up for having lunch at Applebee’s, we ate dinner at Cielo at the Mayfair Hotel. It was a very small but quaint space in the basement with exposed rock walls and all. We stuffed ourselves on some great Italian food.

The restaurant was right next door to the Eugene O'Neill Theater where we had tickets to see “The Book of Mormon.” It was a well-done show with lots of energy, albeit quite irreverent.

We walked back to the hotel after the show in a heavy drizzle of rain, but we had taken our umbrellas and only had two and a half blocks to walk, so we were okay. Other than the day I arrived in London, this was the only rain I have encountered in the three weeks I have been gone from St. Louis. Back at the hotel we ended the day with a nightcap and then back to the room.

Side note: below is a picture of a view from our hotel window. The significance – it is an ad for the website I am using for my blog on this trip.
