After breakfast at the hotel we finished our re-packing, then waited for our car and driver to pick us up at 12:45 p.m. for the drive to Southampton. We arrived at the pier at 2:15 p.m. where we had about an hour wait until we were able to check in for the cruise. By the time we got to our stateroom our luggage had already been delivered, so we quickly unpacked and settled in. There were also three bottles of champagne and a bouquet of flowers in our cabin – gifts from the cruise line and from Rex Travel – along with chocolate covered strawberries, which provided a nice snack as we sat on our balcony awaiting the ship’s departure. On this cruise we are on deck 13 – a short deck at the very top, front of the ship. Here are two pictures of our home away from home for the next seven days.

Shortly after the muster drill and the departure from Southampton it was time for dinner in the Britannia Club – a nice, smaller dining room at the back of the ship. After a scrumptious dinner we headed to the Queen’s Room and spent the remainder of the evening listening to the live big band music and watching folks dance. Then it was off to bed around 11:00 p.m.
