A Day of Leisure

Today turned out to be a relaxing day. The two organs I was to visit didn't pan out, so Darwin and I took a stroll around Mayfair and came across the pub Coach & Horses where we had a lunch.

Back at the hotel by late afternoon we took a nap before heading off to the Aldwych Theatre to see the show "Beautiful" (the Carole King story). We purposely arrived at the theatre early and found a nice window seat in the bar at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel next to the theatre where we had a few drinks and a light dinner before the show.

The show was quite entertaining and the music, of course, took us back to our youth. We also seemed to be surrounded by mostly other Americans in the theatre.

Following the show we took a taxi back to our hotel where we had a nightcap and then called it a day.

Although it was somewhat disappointing to not be able to have the chance to visit a few more organs before ending that part of my sabbatical, it was good to have a nice, leisurely transition day. Tomorrow we make out way to Southhampton to board the Queen Mary 2 for our return to the U. S., arriving in New York on September 27.

My experiences with visiting various organs in Germany, Belgium and England were as much, if not more, than I had anticipated and hoped for. It was been a great eleven days thus far.

I will continue my blog postings throughout the remainder of the month, mostly for my family who are curious to know what I am up to, but this does conclude the organ portion of the trip. I hope those of you who have tagged along via my blog have found it enjoyable. You are welcome to continue to check in from time to time. For now, it is almost time to say goodbye to London once again.
